Swim Windemere & Botlon 70.3
When I started coaching with Mel, I was a complete beginner and didn’t think I was good enough to have a coach. Swimming the length of Windermere both excited and terrified me, but Mel made it possible. She built a plan around my busy life, helping me improve technique, confidence, fuelling and most importantly, believe in myself. Crossing the jetty after 11 miles was incredible. From there, she guided me to my next goal a Half Ironman. Mel understood the juggle of life and created a plan that was achievable and enjoyable. Completing my first 70.3 in Bolton exceeded all expectations and proved the magic of trusting the process.

I first met Mel when I moved to Nottingham around 2012, whilst she was coaching at TFN Tri club. I always enjoyed Mel’s sessions, she coaches with energy, knowledge and passion. When I decided to start training for the English Channel in 2019, I reached out to Mel and she was more than happy to help. That year she didn’t only write sessions for me, she also swam many of them with me, as a training partner. Mel Berry’s coaching completely changed the way I train. She set up a programme that focused on mobility, strength, technique, and stamina, all aimed at swimming the length of Coniston. I ended up feeling so much stronger that I went on to do Ullswater and even Windermere—things I never thought I could do.
